The Marchés publics de Montréal is a public network of a multitude of markets with the mission to improve access to fresh produce that brings Montrealers closer to local producers, market gardeners, retailers, restaurateurs, and agri-food artisans.
While thinking of this project, I was particularly drawn to the perfect round shapes radishes have when they are cut, as well as their vibrant colors. Having the concept of circularity in mind, I explored a way to utilize both this and the radishes’ fun colors for the packaging. I decided on making an envelope that opens in 3 different flaps, each flap being a different color of the radish. To reveal those colors, I cut circles of different sizes so that when the envelope is closed, we can see each layer, creating a whole radish slice.
